Welcome!!!
Dear Families,
Welcome! I am thrilled to be working with you and your child. I look forward to a successful school year. Below you will find a little more about who I am and what to expect this school year.
My name is Bernadette Daite or Ms. D. I have had the opportunity to serve in the Littleton Elementary School District since 2014. I graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Performances. I also graduated with a master's degree in Liberal Studies and Special Education (and Elementary Education) from ASU.
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine. It is going to be a year full of fun, learning, and adventures. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us. It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students and develop a desire to become life-long learners.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to contact me is via email or writing a note in your student’s agenda. It is my goal to collaborate with you in order to best support your child to be successful. I look forward to being a part of your child’s education!
Sincerely,

Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that all children are capable of success, no exceptions. All children are unique and have different learning styles. I believe in creating a stress free environment that promotes learning and enables children to meet their full potential. I believe all students should be given the ability to learn. I collaborate with other educators in providing instruction and accommodations. I believe that small learning tasks and clear expectations help develop students.
I am a firm believer of Direct Instruction which is designed in small learning increments and clearly prescribed teaching tasks. The academic needs of the students are met through differentiation and enrichment strategies. It is my goal to incorporate different learning styles, as well as make the content relevant to the students' lives. I incorporate hands-on learning, cooperative learning, projects, themes, and individual work that engage and activate students learning. It is important to me to make learning fun for the students in order for them to love and continue to want to expand their knowledge.

This year, your child will explore new levels of learning and discover their path to success. There will be high expectations from your child in terms of completing and returning assignments/work on time. Each student will receive an agenda in order to maintain communication throughout the school year between teacher-student-parent/guardian. Students will use agendas to write daily objectives, homework assignments, “Make Your Day” points and any comments or concerns we might have for a specific day. For this reason, please review and sign the agendas nightly. We will work hard together in order to ensure this success. Here’s how you can help support your child:
-
Make sure your child comes to school every day on time, in uniform, and prepared with school supplies.
-
Set aside a specific time and place for homework, review it nightly, along with other school information (refer to your child’s agenda).
-
Reinforce school, classroom, and transportation rules.
-
Ask your child how his/her day was and what he/she learned.
-
Have your child read for at least 15 minutes daily throughout the week.
-
Maintain positive communication with the teacher & school through school agendas, phone calls, and/or emails.
-
Attend parent-teacher conferences and school events as scheduled throughout the year.
